DEADLINE FOR THE HOME BUYERS TAX CREDIT, UP TO $8,000 HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO APRIL 30, 2010, AND NOW INCLUDES $6500 FOR MOVE-UP BUYERS! Current homeowners can receive a tax credit of up to $6,500 if a new or existing home is purchased between Nov. 7, 2009 and April 30, 2010. Current homeowners must have owned and lived in the home they are selling for at least five consecutive years out of the last eight years. *Some restrictions apply. Consult your tax advisor for details.
Deposits are now insured up to at least $250,000 per depositor through December 31, 2013. On January 1, 2014, the standard insurance amount will return to $100,000 per depositor for all account categories except for IRAs and other certain retirement accounts which will remain at $250,000 per depositor. (This supersedes the October 3, 2008 changes.)
